Tour De Tea Rooms - Grafham Water

Grafham Water Tour (This will be the final ride in our series)

We will be meeting in the Marlow Car Park. This has the Tea Rooms, Cycle hire shop, a Children’s sand play area, play ground, and if inflated a bouncy air pillow for those with more energy than sense and plenty of grassy area for children and family to relax on a lovely sunny day

Ash and I will start from the Tea Rooms footpath and take the Anti-Clockwise path. This will start with us uphill gradient to the tree lined trail. At the end turn right through the stile onto a single track road up to the junction and turn left, go past the church and an “A frame” campsite on your right on to the end of this road to a gravel car park for fishermen. Take a right turn.

Now we are riding round the reservoir for about 1.5 miles. On our left some lovely views across the water with some seating strategically placed.

At the end we take a right tun up hill into the wooded area away from the dam. It has many ups and downs on mainly gravely paths with fields on your right for around 3 to 4miles. As you come out of the wooded area you are high looking out over the dam on your left.

The path takes us to the right then left down the hill and agin up to the Mander Car Park at Perry. Go through the car park on the path made by cycles, this will take you past the sailing club on your left to the back of the housing estate on your right to the end turn right slight hill to the road at Perry.

This leads us to the Perry road footpath turn left for 400 yards and then back to a wooded path until you reach the reservoir dam road. Take a deep breath here and a good drink of fluid.

This could be wind against for nearly a mile but we are approaching the tea rooms.

Normally circumnavigating the reservoir takes 50 minutes. At last you will be able to smell the aroma of tea, coffee and cake. Maybe if its a good day ice cream.
